Monetary Penalties
Speeding tickets can cost a lot of money, even if a person is a first time speeding offender. But, a general rule of thumb is, the more speeding convictions, the higher the fines.
Speeding ticket fines in New York State range from $45 to $600 and depend on the rate of speed over the posted speed limit a driver is alleged to have gone.

For second and third speeding convictions, fines increase even more. A second conviction may cost an additional $150 and for a third speeding ticket conviction the cost can increase by $375. Serious money. But, that is not the end to the consequences of a speeding conviction.
Point Penalties
Like speeding ticket fines, points associated with speeding tickets vary and depend on how fast a driver is alleged to have driven.
Other Penalties to Keep in Mind
